Job Title: Operations Manager – Broilers
Reports To: Agriculture Director
Supervises: Directly — Senior Poultry Managers Indirectly — None
Interfaces with: Internally — BPUL Staff Externally — Out Growers
Duty Station: Uganda
Job Purpose:
The Operations Manager – Broilers is responsible for the entire broiler operations section of the company including future sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategically direct, manage and transition the operations of the broiler division.
- Planning, organizing, communicating, and executing the various broiler business activities.
- Meeting set KPI’s and as per the strategic plan.
- Review all protocols for the operations broiler division.
- Develop data driven broiler operation.
- Identify staff training and mentoring needs so there is a transfer of knowledge and skills development benefit.
- Develop daily, weekly, monthly reports that help the agriculture director get more visibility on the workings of the broiler operations.
- Review and revise breeder SOPs then implement revised procedure so as to be operationally effective and aligned with relevant food safety requirements.
- Working with the quality assurance team to develop a usable QA program that can be adopted through the broiler operations business
- To develop, train and recruit local breeder farm managers that strive to attain international broiler standards.
- Engage new contract growers and ensure both new and current growers are trained, developed, and monitored to perform to BPUL standards.
- Maintain all poultry facilities and equipment in the best working condition.
- To effect BEST PRACTICES and world class standards in operations broiler division as per broiler standards.
- Drive the implementation of BPUL culture and values and lead by example throughout the broiler department.

- 7-day mortality <1%
- FCR < 1.85
- PEF >280
- Average live weight: 1,75kg
- 100% compliance to Biosecurity SOPs
Education:
- Degree or diploma in Agriculture or related field
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior position
- Prior experience in poultry farming sector is essential
- High level of Integrity and honesty
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Leadership skills with experience of managing a large staff complement
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Transfer of knowledge skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population
- Microsoft office suite skills
